Maclen

Most tools for small operators are built by people who have never run one.

We build from the other side of the counter. Two long careers in technology — and one of us is still the customer.

Matt McCloskey

Twenty years shipping product. Founded Osmek, the first SaaS headless CMS, and grew it to 2,000+ accounts. VP of Product at Hypergiant, building AI decision tools for NORAD/NORTHCOM. VP of Product Design at Rex, a real estate technology incubator, where he launched ten startups in six months. Runs OpenClaw, a self-hosted multi-agent AI system, for research, architecture, and delivery — which is how two people ship at the pace of a studio.

Lenny Sharp

Thirty-eight years in high technology, then a house in the mountains and a real estate license. Ten-year Airbnb Superhost with properties in Mariposa, Oakhurst, and San Antonio — so he knows precisely what it costs to run a house from two time zones away. Built his own underwriting tool on licensed AirDNA data, the one he uses to price deals for the investors he advises. Every product we ship gets tested first on inventory he is personally on the hook for.

The partnership

The company is new. The partnership is almost forty years old.

Lenny and his wife became close friends with Matt's parents nearly four decades ago. Two families, grown up alongside each other, arguing about technology the whole way. When Lenny found a market he already lived inside, Matt was the person he called.

Fifty-fifty, and no one to convince but each other. Hostmade is the first thing we are building together. It will not be the last.

First product

Hostmade

Airbnb tells search engines not to index your listing. The instruction sits in the page source, in plain sight: noindex, nofollow.

Airbnb's own landing pages rank. They buy ads to push them. The property you actually own ranks nowhere — the platform absorbs the search demand your house earns and hands none of it back.

Hostmade builds the site that does get read: direct-booking websites for short-term rental operators, structured so an answer engine can find, understand, and cite the property itself.
